A&O Shearman announces three partner promotions in Luxembourg

A&O Shearman has announced the promotion of three new partners, two counsel and four senior associates in Luxembourg. The promotions will be effective on May 1st, 2026.

Maurice Macchi has been promoted to partner in the Employment department, Johanna Tschurtschenthaler in the Tax department, and Lukas Vondrich in the Banking and Finance department. These promotions have been announced as part of a global partner promotion round involving 33 lawyers across 18 offices in 14 countries.

Nicolas Madelin (Banking and Finance) and Alexis Poisson (Global Financial Markets) have been promoted to counsel.

Promoted to senior associate are Fanni Farizs (Banking and Finance), Jacques Hoffmann (Corporate and M&A), Jeff Nitschaeff (Banking and Finance) and Justine Yansenne (Corporate and M&A).

New partners’ biographies:

 | Maurice Macchi has been promoted to partner in the Employment department. Maurice advises on the full spectrum of employment law matters and has extensive experience in handling strategic restructuring matters, including collective redundancy procedures and transfers of undertakings. He also advises on sensitive matters such as investigations into harassment and discrimination and defends clients in high-stakes litigation before the Luxembourg employment courts.


| Johanna Tschurtschenthaler has been promoted to partner in the Tax department. Johanna advises on all aspects of international and corporate tax, with a particular focus on private capital clients and asset managers on the structuring of funds and cross-border transactions, across asset classes. She has extensive experience advising institutional investors on their fund investments. She also leads on the tax aspects of multi-jurisdictional restructurings and special situations transactions.

|  Lukas Vondrich has been promoted to partner in the Banking and Finance department. Lukas advises international private capital players and financial institutions on strategic event-driven financing matters and cross-border restructurings. He has extensive experience with a wide range of restructuring arrangements, security enforcement, and cross-border insolvency matters.    

New counsel biographies:

  | Nicolas Madelin specializes on real estate finance and fund finance. He advises sponsors and lenders on syndicated lending transactions, from negotiating facility documentation to the related security and guarantee package. He also advises on insolvency and restructurings matters.


| Alexis Poisson advises financial institutions and private capital clients on structured finance and securitisation, direct lending transactions and debt capital markets matters. He assists clients with repackaging transactions, private credit and bond issuances.
