Allen & Overy elects Wim Dejonghe as firmwide Senior Partner

Allen & Overy partners elected Wim Dejonghe as senior partner with effect from 1 May for an initial term of 4 years. He will succeed David Morley who will retire end of April from the firm. David Morley, retiring Senior Partner, commented: "I would like congratulate Wim on his appointment to lead the firm as senior partner. I am confident that, with the support of the partnership and everyone at Allen & Overy, the firm will continue to thrive under his leadership."

Prior to this election as Senior Partner, Wim Dejonghe led the firm as Global Managing Partner of Allen & Overy LLP and was credited with introducing important structural changes, innovations and new service lines at the firm. He was Managing Partner of the Belgian offices from 1996 until his election as Global Managing Partner in May 2008. Up to that date, he also co-headed A&O's global corporate practice. 

He joined Allen & Overy as a partner in 2001 having previously been a partner at Loeff Claeys Verbeke since 1993. Wim Dejonghe co-wrote the book "M&A in Belgium", the only in-depth and comprehensive legal guide to Belgian M&A transactions. He practised corporate law in Belgium and also practised law in the USA (New York and Washington) and Spain (Barcelona). He received his law degree from the University of Louvain (KUL) and subsequently worked as an assistant at the University of Louvain (KUL) at the International and European Law Department.
