As Legal Counsel, you will be part of the Corporate Legal team and focus on all legal and regulatory matters related to HR Pay Solutions:

• You provide expert legal advice on financial and prudential regulation applicable to payment institutions, including PSD2/PSD3, AML/CFT, safeguarding, governance and outsourcing requirements.
• You monitor, interpret and translate regulatory developments and guidelines from supervisory authorities (such as NBB, ECB, EBA) into practical internal policies, procedures, impact assessments and actionable recommendations for the business.
• You collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including senior management, Compliance & Risk, and other legal team members, to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
• You support compliance with licensing conditions, regulatory reporting obligations and interactions with supervisory authorities.
• You provide legal support in the development of new products, services and partnerships within the payments and fintech ecosystem.
• You draft, review and negotiate contracts with banks, payment service providers, card schemes, vendors and strategic partners.
• You coordinate and manage external legal counsel where required.

• Master’s degree in Belgian Law and minimum 5 years of relevant experience (law firm, financial institution, payment institution, fintech or similar regulated environment)
• Strong knowledge of financial regulation applicable to payment services and financial institutions and experience with or strong affinity for AML, governance, outsourcing and third-party risk
• Ability to translate complex regulatory frameworks into pragmatic, solution-driven and business-oriented solutions
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic and regulated environment, while also being a collaborative team player across departments
• You take ownership and have a long-term perspective
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluency in English and Dutch (French or other languages are an asset)
