Linklaters appoints new European Managing Partner and Managing Partner

Linklaters has appointed Jean-Pierre Blumberg as European Managing Partner and François De Bauw as Managing Partner, Belgium.

Jean-Pierre, who has been Managing Partner, Belgium since 2001, succeeds Jean-Marc Lefèvre, whose term of office has come to an end. A specialist in corporate/M&A law, Jean-Pierre will continue to combine management and practice. His appointment is for a four-year term.

In his new role, Jean-Pierre will represent Linklaters' mainland Western European offices on the firm’s Executive Committee (excluding Germany, which is represented by German Senior Partner, Michael Lappe) in pursuit of the firm’s strategic priorities as well as the region’s business strategy.

François, head of capital markets in Belgium and a member of Linklaters' International Board since 2002, takes over as Managing Partner, Belgium for a three-year term. His appointment is effective immediately and he will also combine management with client advisory work.

Jean-Pierre and François, who both became partners in 1990, have been involved in numerous high-profile corporate/M&A and capital markets transactions in Belgium and beyond, such as the IPO of Belgacom, the merger of Interbrew and Ambev to create InBev; the formation of KBC Group from various mergers; the sale of ABX logistics by Belgian railway operator SNCB to 3i; and the privatisation of the Belgian Post through a major investment by a CVC Capital Partners/Danish Post consortium.
