Recruiter description

MAM Gruppe was founded in 2009 with a straightforward idea: that recruitment in Germany works better when the person handling your search actually knows the market they're working in.

Since then, we've grown into one of Germany's leading specialist recruitment agencies, with offices in Munich, London, and Dubai, and a team of consultants who work exclusively within their own verticals. That means when you work with MAM Gruppe, you're not handed to a generalist. You're working with someone who lives and breathes Technology, Legal, GRC, or Finance, and has spent years building the networks to prove it.

We work with over 350 clients across Germany, from early-stage scale-ups to DAX-40 corporations, and we've maintained a 97% candidate retention rate since our founding. Those numbers matter to us, but what matters more is the quality of the relationships behind them.

MAM Gruppe's Freelance division operates across Europe on senior-level appointments.

Belgium (HQ) · Global Remit · Freelance / Interim

Our client, an established international industrial technology group headquartered in Belgium, is looking for an interim Compliance Officer to lead its Compliance Management System across the entire global organisation. This is a senior, strategic role with real authority and a genuinely broad remit - spanning more than 30 legal entities across multiple geographies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the local President and functionally to the Group Chief Compliance Officer, you will lead the Compliance team and take ownership of adapting, implementing, and continuously improving the Compliance Management System across the group. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, manage a team of Compliance Managers and Ambassadors, and hold budget, signature, and financial transaction approval authority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adapt and embed the group Compliance strategy across the organisation, in line with corporate minimum standards
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Compliance Management System across 30+ legal entities and multiple geographies
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on compliance risk and strategy ("tone from the top")
  • Own policy management, training design and delivery, and advise first-line stakeholders on compliance-sensitive matters (gifts, entertainment, sponsorships, donations)
  • Implement a risk-based monitoring and controls concept, including compliance spot checks and tracking of remedial actions
  • Own group-wide compliance reporting: training, third-party due diligence, investigations, and risk assessments
  • Manage and develop the Compliance Managers and Ambassadors across the organisation - selection, onboarding, performance, and development
  • Represent Compliance externally at conferences, roundtables, and benchmarking activities

YOUR PROFILE

  • Excellent understanding of corruption, fraud, conflicts of interest, anti-money laundering, and supply chain compliance
  • 7+ years of operational experience in a senior legal and/or compliance function
  • Proven ability to manage and steer a global, multi-entity organisation
  • Confident engaging with boards and executive management at eye level
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and sound judgement, with a proactive, service-oriented mindset
  • Fluent in Flemish and English; any additional language is an advantage
