New partners at Claeys & Engels

With great pleasure Claeys & Engels wants to share that with effect from January 2023, Ward Bouciqué has been promoted to Partner and Sylvie Dumortier to Tax Partner.

Ward Bouciqué joined the firm in 2005 after having obtained his Master's degree in Law at KU Leuven and a post-graduate degree in Employment Law at the ULB. He advises clients on all aspects of individual and collective employment/labour law. He has a specific interest and knowledge in topics such as restructuring, employment contracts, hiring, policies, redundancies, false self-employment, protected workers, social elections and transfer of undertaking (TUPE).

Sylvie Dumortier holds a master’s degree in Commercial and Financial Sciences (ICHEC Brussels Management School) and completed her tax education at the VLEKHO Business School. She is also a certified tax consultant with the ITAA. She started her career in 1997 at PwC, where she specialised in all aspects of Human Resources taxation for companies. Sylvie joined Claeys & Engels in 2020 to lead the Compensation & Benefits practice at the firm. She advises national and international clients on their remuneration policies (total reward, flexible remuneration plans, incentive plans, benefits in kind, social benefits, costs proper to the employer, pensions, exemption from payment of withholding tax, etc.).

Sylvie also teaches taxation at the École Supérieure des Sciences Fiscales (ICHEC Brussels Management School) and at the Solvay Business School.

We are also delighted to open 2023 with the announcement that Claeys & Engels is growing. We wish a warm welcome to Elise Laeremans who joins Claeys & Engels as counsel and comes to strengthen our pension team.
