Legal Counsel

• Advise all entities of the Shurgard group on a variety of legal matters, including but not limited to, corporate, regulatory compliance, ESG, GDPR, Consumer law, Real Estate, M&A, and HR matters
• Manage and support a wide range of projects in various legal domains
• Design and implement policies and processes to ensure compliance with statutory obligations, particularly for listed companies like SHUR on Euronext Brussels
• Provide counsel to departments and participate in the negotiation of commercial agreements with suppliers, contractors and other stakeholder
• Review operational procedures in various countries and assist in the creation or updating of standard contracts and procedures
• Handle disputes internally and support external counsel in litigation matters
• Maintain accurate corporate secretarial records to ensure regulatory compliance
• Keep abreast of legal developments in relevant jurisdictions and areas of law and ensure organizational adaptation
• Manage relationships with external legal service providers, including negotiating rates and discounts to optimize cost-effectiveness.

• A master degree in law
• Professional experience in various areas of law as a Legal Counsel and/or litigation at an international business law firm or a multinational (preferably listed) company.
• Proficiency in English and Dutch and/or French
• Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with individuals across all levels within and outside the company
• Prioritize customer satisfaction, problem-solving, and ensuring prompt follow-up with a keen sense of urgency
• Demonstrate business acumen and awareness
• Work effectively both as a team player and independently, taking initiative when necessary
