As Legal Counsel, you are a member of our legal department and report to the General Counsel. You ensure compliance with laws, translate business strategy into legal documentation, and advise aligned company procedures. You ultimately reduce costs while maximizing legal protection.

• Support the business with legal advice during the contract negotiation process, subsequently translate negotiated agreements into contractual documentation;

• proactively screen legal critical aspects of business issues, and continuously follow up on legal developments, keeping track of new laws and regulations, and formulating recommendations and advice accordingly;

• propose, develop and monitor preventive law and compliance programs to reduce company exposure to legal risk;

• manage claims, disputes and litigation in aforementioned areas, supporting the business by facilitating and collaborating in dispute negotiations, identifying and reporting legal risks and formulating alternative proposals – appoint and manage an external counsel where needed, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective representation;

• keep track of essential elements of contractual documentation and timely report to business to take necessary actions (NDAs, supplier and service provider contracts, purchasing);

• support the legal department in setting up standards for the entire organization to streamline legal documentation and increase efficiency of legal service delivery;

• take responsibility of corporate housekeeping of the relevant companies;

• manage IP/trademarks and take required actions to safeguard the company’s portfolio;

• function as SPOC with local industry regulator (Belgian Gaming Commission, The Netherlands Gambling Authority) for customer complaints.

• You obtained a Master degree in Law;

• you build on several years of professional experience in a similar position (i.e. company lawyer, legal counselor), ideally in one of the leading Belgian firms;

• you have a solid expertise in commercial and contract law (IT, operations, marketing, e-commerce, data protection, GDPR etc.);

• any previous exposure to gaming law, GDPR and compliance is an asset;

• you are an outstanding communicator who uses appropriate language at all levels - both spoken and written- in Dutch and English (and French);

• you have excellent contract drafting skills;

• you are team player who is able to work autonomously;

• you have a strong sense of ownership and accountability, work diligently and with a high level of attention for detail;

• you have a strong sense of urgency, excellent prioritization skills and are capable of working in a fast-changing corporate environment and regulatory landscape;

• you are a pragmatist, result-oriented, flexible and well-organized.
