Your function

  • Provide legal advice regarding sustainability matters, legal tech matters and business matters in the broadest possible sense,
  • Follow up on (mostly international) litigation and arbitration procedures, together with external counsel and management,
  • Roll-out legal projects within the (international) legal community within the Ageas group, in particular regarding ESG matters and legal tech matters,
  • Monitor legal developments relevant for Ageas, prepare memos and give internal presentations about upcoming rules and regulations and the implementation thereof within Ageas,
  • Contribute to contract negotiations by joining our internal clients in meetings with potential service providers,
  • Review internal procedures and policies from a legal perspective and make them as hands-on as possible.
  • You will work out of Ageas’s headquarters located in the heart of Brussels for part of your time, and can choose to work remotely for part of your time. You may be asked to take short business trips.

Your profile

  • You are a smart, energetic and enthusiastic person who likes to constantly delve into new legal topics, both in breadth and depth.
  • You either have experience with legal advice regarding sustainability matters (ESG) and/or legal tech matters, or are eager to learn.
  • You have a profound knowledge of contract law and company law in the broadest sense, and thoroughly understand the legal implications of Ageas's status as a listed company.
  • You understand the importance of legal-technical excellence in all legal output, and you act accordingly when preparing your work.
  • You have obtained a Master in Law degree at a Belgian university with excellent academic results.
  • You have acquired more than 5 years’ experience in a reputable law firm or with the in-house legal department of a significant player. Experience in the financial services or insurance sector, and/or with issuers listed on a stock exchange is a plus.
  • You have a strong working knowledge of Dutch, French and English, both orally and in writing.
  • You are a team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and working with others within and outside of the legal department.
