Jolien Dewitte (Strelia) wins the first prize at the VPG Pleitwedstrijd 2016

Jolien Dewitte has won the first prize at the VPG Pleitwedstrijd 2016 which took place in the Brussels Palais de justice on 25 February 2016.

During this Moot competition, 13 candidates of several lawfirms presented their arguments before a jury composed of

- Mr. Werner DAEM, President of the 10th Chamber of the Dutch Court of Commerce of Brussels;
- Mrs. Marie-Charlotte VANTOMME, President of the Dutch Labour Court of Brussels;
- Mrs. Kathleen VERCRAEYE, President of the Dutch Bar Association of Brussels.

The candidates were judged on their pleading capabilities. The jury examined the structure of the pleadings, the clarity of the presentation, the fluency of the language and the correctness of the legal analysis. Each candidate had ten minutes to convince the jury.

The winner, Jolien Dewitte, is an associate with business law firm Strelia. She concentrates on Dispute resolution (Arbitration and Litigation) and on Commercial law.

She was admitted to the Brussels Bar in September 2013 after obtaining her law degree from the University of Ghent in 2012 and a Master in General Management at the Vlerick Business School in 2013.

Before joining Strelia in September 2015, She was a lawyer in the Dispute Resolution and Life Sciences departments at Altius.
