At this year's "Transatlantic Legal Awards", organised by the leading US publication "The American Lawyer" and held last Thursday in London, there was a noteworthy 'Belgian connection', as Sabine Chalmers of AB-Inbev received the "Transatlantic In-house Leader" award.
Sabine Chalmers, currently based in New York, is the chief legal and corporate affairs officer and company secretary of the Belgium-based multinational beverage and brewing company, whose 200 brands include Budweiser and Bud Light, Stella Artois, Corona, Beck’s, Michelob Ultra. The company employs more than 155,000 people in 25 countries. Chalmers has lived and worked throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas, and is qualified as a solicitor in the U.K. and a member of the state bar in New York. She joined AB-Inbev in 2005, having previously worked at Diageo and Lovells. She worked at the company's worldwide HQ in Leuven, Belgium before moving to New York in 2009.
