lex.be has officially been launched on March 9th. It is an innovative platform to find relevant Belgian legislation and case law. Such a website is the first in kind in Belgium. In addition, the platform is free and open to everyone. Through a unique interface and Google-like search engine citizens, companies, legal service providers, academics and administrations will eventually be able to search in a simple, user-friendly way through more than one million documents from the entire Belgian legislation and case law, and this in "full text" mode. Hence lex.be is instrumental for the entry of legal age 2.0. From now on everyone will eventually get easy access to legal data.
Purpose & operation of lex.be
Until to date Belgian citizens had inadequate access to relevant legal information. They did not dispose of a simple tool to find legislation and case law.
To eradicate this situation, we created lex.be: a low entry platform developed to allow everyone to look into Belgian legislation and case law in an easy and simple way. Citizens, businesses, legal professionals, academics and government agencies will now be granted access to legal data. Thanks to lex.be everyone can easily search in "full text" mode in the entire Belgian legislation and case law. It is the first website that offers such facilities: a true change in the archaic legal world!
Erik De Herdt, CEO of lex.be is very excited about the launch: "Besides the fact that our platform is free for everyone, our solution will also help courts and administrations in developing a solid legal basis for decisions at a lower cost. Lex.be gives legal service providers the opportunity to easily find relevant legal data and to convert “dead” data in new legal insights. Our range of powerful tools will greatly increase the efficiency of legal professionals and eventually substantially change their way of working. "
Through a unique interface and Google-like search engine, one can search in the entire Belgian legislation and case law in an intuitive way. The user merely needs to enter relevant keywords in the search bar on lex.be. The search engine generates all results remarkably quickly. "Our team has made an enormous effort and has succeeded in developing a high-performance platform. We have indexed all data developed smart algorithms for unstructured data into a structured database, and built a powerful search engine, "said Eric Rodriguez, Managing Partner and CTO.
Ambitions in the near future
