Group Corporate Counsel & Compliance Officer

To strengthen its corporate legal team, Azelis is currently looking for a Group Corporate Counsel & Compliance Officer who can support the organisation with expert advice on a broad range of matters relevant to Azelis’ corporate legal & governance affairs as well as the group's compliance program.

You will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Support the day-to-day legal needs of the Azelis group in the area of corporate governance and compliance within the context of a listed company;
• Manage the corporate legal and governance affairs of Azelis with specific attention to the corporate (holding) entities;
• Review and advise on a variety of contractual arrangements for the procurement of non-commercial services at group level related to IT, HR and finance;
• Take up an active role in the preparation and execution of special projects (including internal corporate reorganizations);
• Ensure the roll-out and maintenance of the group’s compliance policies and procedures;
• Provide legal support in relation to the financing of Azelis’ business and operations at group level; 
• Assist with determination and deployment of group’s sustainability strategy in the area of governance;
• Manage Azelis’ insurance program (liability and property damage/business interruption);
• Oversee the intellectual property rights portfolio of Azelis group;
• Supervise and direct outside counsel on various legal matters;
• Organize appropriate trainings on relevant corporate legal and compliance matters.

You will report to the Group General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer.

• You have a Belgian Master degree in Law;
• You have minimum 10 years of relevant experience as an in-house counsel in a corporate legal department (preferably of a listed company) or as an attorney in a recognized law firm;
• You have experience in corporate governance and compliance matters;
• You are a self-reliant teamplayer, who works independently and takes responsibility for counselling, negotiating and resolving legal and compliance matters;
• You have proven experience with implementing or optimizing legal technology to improve efficiency;
• You have a sense of ownership and drive; you are a problem solver who shows a bias for action, acts promptly to remove "roadblocks" and ensures accountability to get things done in a timely manner;
• You are a successful relationshipbuilder and you are able to deal with all levels in the organization;
• You have strong communication skills; 
• You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch and English. Other languages are a plus;
• You have a good sense of humour.
