Astrea-partner Steven De Schrijver wins global Information Technology Lawyer of the Year Award

Steven De Schrijver (http://whoswholegal.com/profiles/45489/0/de-schrijver/steven-de-schrijver/) from the Belgian firm Astrea was recognised by Who's Who Legal as the Information Technology Lawyer of the Year in its awards ceremony in New York. He "sets the standard" according to one source, and is "excellent" on a wide range of issues including data protection, e-commerce, licensing and outsourcing. He is also very much involved in tech M&A, tech start-ups and technology funds. He is a member of the Board of ITechLaw and the current President of the International Federation of Computer Law Asssociations, which is organising its next congress in Antwerp in June (www.ifcla2014.com)

This is the second time he has been selected since the awards began in 2005. He received more votes from clients and peers in the course of our research than any other individual worldwide, and was picked out by a research process that encompassed clients and private practice lawyers across the globe.

The winners were announced at a black tie Awards Ceremony at the University Club in New York on 31 March, where the leading lawyers and firms from 35 practice areas and over 50 countries were recognised.

The awards are based on a number of factors, including general feedback received in the research process, past performance in the research and the overall aggregate number of weighted votes cast in their favour.
