The Belgian law firm Laga is delighted to announce the reinforcement of its team with two new lawyers; Danny Stas and Karin Rasschaert. In his new role as partner at Laga, Danny Stas will focus on VAT consulting towards Belgian clients in the private and public sectors as well as the broad corporate market on (inter)national level. As a partner, Karin Rasschaert will join the Employment, Pensions & Benefits practice further increasing Laga's footprint in the legal HR market.
Danny Stas started his career as a VAT consultant with Arthur Andersen, later working as a partner at Tiberghien. He is a tax lawyer specialised in VAT, in particular with respect to real estate and financial transactions, as well as eco taxes and contributions. In his new role as Laga partner, Danny will focus on VAT consulting for Belgian clients in the private and public sectors and the broad corporate market at national and international level. He will be undertaking a leading role for the following market offerings and initiatives: Public Private Partnerships; Real Estate sector; Public sector (focusing on the Flanders region and federal levels) and healthcare services. He will also further develop the firm's dispute resolution services for indirect taxes and contribute to the firm's Green Taxes offering through its recycling sector expertise.
Karin Rasschaert recently joined Laga as a partner in its Employment, Pensions & Benefits practice. She brings with her twenty years of experience in dealing with all legal aspects of human resources management. Karin began her career in the employment law practice of Loeff Claeys Verbeke (later Allen & Overy) and became a partner at Allen & Overy in 2003 where she led the Antwerp Employment, Pensions and Incentives practice. In January 2006 she joined Monard-D'Hulst to establish the Brussels based employment practice. Karin's appointment as partner coincides with Laga's strategic decision to further expand the firm's practice in employment matters and strengthen existing capacities. Karin will particularly focus on individual and collective employment relations, executive employment termination and corporate restructurings.
