Head of Compliance

Compliance and Risk are a sparring partner of the business and management and participates in various projects.

The position is in Belgium, an office with about 50 employees. It is based in Saxo Bank's beautiful office  located on the 18th floor in the center of Antwerp, with a breathtaking view of the historic city center and within walking distance of the Meir.

You will also be part of the Compliance team of the Mid European Region (The Netherlands, Belgium, France) and report to the Head of Compliance Mid European Region in Amsterdam. In addition, you have frequent contact with the management team of Belgium.

• You determine the direction of Compliance and Risk Management Belgium and manage the team;
• You are the AML Compliance Officer towards the NBB;
• You give the first line solicited and unsolicited advice on all possible compliance topics;
• Assess and report potentially suspicious customer transactions (AML/ CTF/MAR) and advise on high-risk customer files;
• Improve and execute on (periodic) monitoring activities regarding the Compliance and Risk & Control Framework;
• You are the contact person of the supervisory authority(s) in Belgium and coordinate the conduct of investigations by the supervisory authority and other third parties;
• Creating awareness of the1st line on various compliance and operational risk management topics;
• Performing second line investigations into the quality of the 1st line processes and analyses.
• Advice, impact assessment and support in the implementation of new legal requirements;
• Providing compliance awareness and substantive training to the organization;
• Reporting compliance and risk management risks to local management.

Enthusiastic and driven individual, educated to the Masters degree. Possesses knowledge of financial markets. Knowledge of and experience with European and national compliance laws and regulations. In addition should have the following:

• At least 5-10 years of relevant work experience as a (senior) Compliance Officer in the financial sector with demonstrable managerial experience.
• Independent, critical and constructive discussion partner at various levels within the organization.
• Analytical thinking skills and able to understand complex issues.
• Determined, result- and solution-oriented.
• Change oriented.
• Familiar with a positive critical role towards the organization.
• Flexible, but can keep a straight back at important moments.
• Demonstrable skills in the field of compliance training & awareness; compliance advice and influencing behavior.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in Dutch and English. French language is also preferred but not essential.
