In-house counsel salary survey for Belgium

The Belgian Institute of Company Lawyers (IBJ-IJE), Vlerick Business School, and Vialegis have teamed up to conduct a survey exploring the remuneration of company lawyers. The goal was to gather valuable insights into salaries, benefits, and job satisfaction within this profession, while also shedding light on the latest remuneration trends.

Between September and November 2022, the survey received an impressive 561 responses. To ensure up-to-date information, the salaries presented in the results have been adjusted to reflect market conditions as of June 2023.

The survey's findings are available to the public in two formats: a downloadable report and a practical online tool. With the tool, users can conveniently search for specific criteria and find corresponding survey responses. It provides a range of information, including the lowest and highest monthly gross salaries, their median, a visual chart of reported salaries, and common remuneration elements.

The survey's main objective was to offer an updated overview of company lawyers' remuneration. It delved into financial rewards, fringe benefits, and other non-financial aspects that contribute to the overall remuneration package. Moreover, it placed particular importance on assessing the job satisfaction and happiness of company lawyers, recognizing the unique challenges they face in the current professional landscape.
