International law firm Bird & Bird has promoted two Brussels-based lawyers to partner in its annual global promotions.
Employment lawyer Anton Aerts and corporate lawyer Cedric Berckmans have been recognised for their contributions to the firm and appointed to the partnership effective from May 2023.
A member of Bird & Bird’s Brussels office since 2012, Anton has advised clients in all aspects of employment and social security law including transfer of undertaking, restructurings and individual and collective redundancies. He also assists clients on business immigration and cross border employment situations and has been a key contact within the firm as companies adapt to new ways of working following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another member of the firm since 2012, Cedric advises both Belgian and international clients throughout the entire process of negotiating, structuring and closing corporate and commercial partnership agreements. He also has extensive experience in dispute resolution involving court proceedings and arbitration, as well as in insolvency law. Additionally, he assists clients with risk mitigation and pre-trial strategies.
The two new partners are part of Bird & Bird’s global promotions, during which the firm appointed 29 Partners, 3 Senior Counsel, 2 Special Counsel, 24 Counsel and 4 Legal Directors.
Brussels Competition & EU lawyer Baptist Vleeshouwers has also been promoted to counsel in Bird & Bird’s promotion round.
