Eubelius supports young talent - Prisons project of photographer Sébastien Van Malleghem

The young Belgian photographer Sébastien Van Malleghem has taken pictures of everyday life in Belgian prisons over a period of three years. The images he created for this project have been compiled in a book –  Prisons.

Eubelius supported Sébastien Van Malleghem in the realisation of this project. This support is part of Eubelius’ corporate social involvement – in a project through which a talented young photographer has focused attention on a topic that is highly relevant to society.

The book Prisons was launched at Bozar in Brussels on 23 September 2015 at an evening event hosted by Eubelius.
An introduction by Jozef Lievens, Chairman of Eubelius, was followed by a brief presentation of the project and the pictures.

Interviews with the photographer and with Minister of Justice Koen Geens then gave a striking insight into life behind bars, grey and rough as it is, and the indifferent way in which society generally looks at it, with just a spark of optimism and future prospects every now and then. The conclusion: a huge job needs to be done in order to make detention more viable, but the willingness to do this also exists.

Eubelius invited clients, prospective clients and alumni to this launching event, thus combining it with the opportunity to strengthen contacts in an informal way.
