Belgian law firm, CMS DeBacker, today announces Olivier Querinjean's promotion to partner in the firm's Tax practice.
Olivier, who joined the firm in 2001, specializes in national and international tax law. He has particular experience of the tax aspects of M&As, restructurings, transfer pricing and structured financings and has developed extensive expertise in international tax agreements and expat taxation. Olivier is particularly interested in cross-border transactions, advising companies, senior management and shareholders. He assists private clients in the organisation of their tax and estate matters. In this context he negotiates agreements with tax authorities and conducts both administrative and judicial proceedings.
The firm's Tax practice, headed by Didier Gregoire, now numbers six lawyers, including two partners. The team advises both companies and private clients, dealing with all aspects of tax law, including litigation.
Stanislas van Wassenhove, Managing Partner, said: "Olivier is a brilliant, highly reactive lawyer with a keen understanding of client needs and I would like to commend him for it. Working relentlessly, he developed a cutting-edge expertise in a very technical field and is appreciated for his solid yet creative solutions. His nomination again demonstrates that CMS DeBacker's supportive and encouraging environment genuinely gives trainees a shot at making partner."
Olivier holds a law degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain (2000) and a special tax law degree from the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Fiscales (2001). In addition, he is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and lectures on tax law at the Facultés Universitaires de Mons (Fucam - Cefiad).
