Swiss lawyer Pierre-Dominique Schupp takes over as President of the CCBE

Following his election at the Plenary Session of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) on 24 November 2023, Pierre-Dominique Schupp officially assumed the position of CCBE President on 1 January 2024.

Pierre-Dominique Schupp embarked on his legal career in 1989 after obtaining a Ph.D. in law. He distinguished himself as an associate and later as a partner at Rusconi & Associés. His commitment to the legal profession was further demonstrated through his tenure as a member of the Disciplinary Commission of the Vaud Bar Association from 1998 to 2001 and subsequently as a member of the Vaud Bar Association Council from 2001 to 2004. Schupp’s leadership journey continued with his election as Vice‑President and subsequently President of the Vaud Bar Association from 2006 to 2010 and then as President of the Swiss Bar Association from 2009 to 2015.

His international engagement commenced in 2016 when he became a member of the Swiss delegation to the CCBE. Within the CCBE, he contributed as an expert in the Insurance Committee and the European Convention Working Group. In addition to French, he is fluent in English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.

His presidency will be supported by Thierry Wickers (France) as 1st Vice-President, Roman Završek (Slovenia) as 2nd Vice-President, and Alex Tallon (Belgium) as 3rd  Vice-President
