In order to strengthen its business in Belgium and The Netherlands, Beiersdorf is recruiting a Legal Affairs Manager BE & NL.

In your role as Legal Affairs Manager BE & NL, your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Define the legal Belgian and Dutch strategy in accordance with the group and regional legal strategy;

  • Implement policies and legal principles in respect of the group strategy;

  • Implement the rules of Compliance of the Group and the tools and processes involved in the areas of competition, Data Privacy, anti-corruption: training, publishing, management, alert;

  • Give the necessary legal advice to all departments (excluding HR - labour law);

  • Accompany the management to customers/partners/competitors/local authorities with legal advice and manage the relationships with our external lawyers and lawyers for the opposing parties;

  • Legally approve the contracts to reduce the risks for the company;

  • Manage and follow the litigation;

  • Fix/settle the legal problems of the products and activities of the main functions of the company in accordance with national and European legislation;

  • Responsible, in collaboration with the Manager of Regulatory Affairs, for the adaptation of advertising concepts and claims (products 'Masterartwork') and ensure its compliance with the laws of competition and advertising;

  • Assure, in close cooperation with the marketing and the corporate/regional legal functions, the defence of our product claims and advertising against competitors and the Competition authorities;

  • Participate and have contacts with professional associations in Belgium;

  • Manage the assigned annual budget. 

You will report to the Finance Manager Belgium. 

Weekly travel to Amsterdam will be required during your onboarding process. Afterwards, travel frequency can be adapted, depending on the business needs.

  • Master of Laws with five to eight years of relevant experience in the fields of IP and competition law, commercial contracts and litigation. Experience gained within a FMCG business is definitely considered a plus;

  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English;

  • Focussed and structured with a global view;

  • Business Partner, building strong factual recommendations adapted to business situation with risk assessment to support decision process;

  • Being able to communicate to non-experts in an understandable way;

  • High resistance under pressure;

  • Ethical to the highest degree;

  • Willing to travel to Amsterdam on a flexible but regular basis.
