Axa Partners is looking for a Legal Advisor to support the daily business. You will be part of a small Team and work for AXA Partners Benelux (IPA SA), a midsize insurance company part of the AXA Group. You will deal with various legal topics but also assist in projects for the Benelux Business Unit. The subject of your daily files will range from insurance law, company and contract law, to specific regulatory questions inherent to the company's activities. You will report to the Legal Director Benelux.
Your main responsibilities will, among others, include:
Provide legal advice on various legal topics:
- Provide legal advice on questions from staff members within the company's different departments;
- Monitor new business projects and collaborations with partners and verifying their compliance with current legislation and group policies.
Draft and review various legal documents:
- Commercial contracts (including distribution contracts with our partners, contracts with service providers and suppliers), amendments, engagement letters, delegations of authority and other legal acts;
- Insurance Terms and conditions;
- NDA‘s and LOI;
Monitor regulations, legislation and group policies and ensure their implementation (project management)
- Monitor regulatory developments and new legislation applicable to the company, in particular to the insurance sector. Monitor the policies that apply in the group;
- Assist in projects to ensure the implementation of new Group regulations and policies.
As member of the Legal Team of AXA Partners Benelux, based in Brussels, you will contribute to the strategic goals and successes of the company. You will work with different business units (P&C, Health & Protection, Travel business) and professional families (sales & distribution, compliance, Finance, Operations,) within AXA Partners Benelux. The main legal focus will be insurance law and contract law. You will also work with the General Secretary team in Paris on corporate housekeeping matters related to the Belgian legal entities. You will have contact with colleagues of all departments and levels within the company but also crossborder within the wider AXA Partners Group. As legal advisor you will work in an autonomous way with support of colleagues within the team. Homeworking up to 3 days a week.
The ideal candidate fits following requirements:
- Master degree in law (Belgian University);
- Any experience or affinity with insurance and contract law is a plus;
- A first experience of minimum 3 years as an in-house legal advisor or at the bar;
- You are fluent in Dutch or French with an excellent understanding (written and spoken) of the other language. You are able to communicate in English;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Customer focused while considering the interests of the company;
- Able to translate complicated legal constructions in a simple way to non-lawyers;
- Team player;
- Hands on, autonomous and proactive.
