As of April 2014, the ownership of LexGO.be will change hands. Founder and owner of LexGO, Harold Grondel, has agreed with Hugo De Maertelaere on the transfer of the shares of Ad Vocacy BVBA, the company behind LexGO.
Since the beginnings of LexGO in 2006, the site has grown into the premier portal site for the legal community. LexGO offers its users a jobboard, publications and sector news, all related to the legal communities in Belgium and Luxembourg (via LexGO.lu). LexGO has more than 1.800 unique daily visitors and more than 130.000 page views each month.
Harold decided to sell as his professional interests outside LexGO have grown extensively. He has recently launched Productize.be, the first pre-production agency for the internet of things (IoT).
Harold will keep a small participation in LexGO and will support Hugo and the LexGo team in an advisory role.
As the founder and CEO, between 2003 and 2009, of the leading legal recruitment agency Vialegis, Hugo De Maertelaere is no stranger to the Belgian legal community. The investment in LexGO signifies for Hugo a formal return to the legal niche in which he has always maintained intensive contacts.
Hugo plans to continue LexGO’s current strategy and approach and aims to extend this to those regions and market segments that offer a clear potential for growth.
Harold Grondel: ”I am particularly pleased that I can transfer ownership of LexGo to an entrepreneur who has a proven affinity with the legal community and has the ability and means to further develop LexGO’s potential. I am extremely proud of what has been achieved with LexGo since the beginnings in 2006, leading to the site’s unique market position. With Hugo succeeding me, the successful expansion of LexGO will continue.”
Hugo De Maertelaere: ”I’ve known Harold and LexGO since the start in 2006 and have closely followed the development of the site over the years. Harold and his team have proven that a uniquely client-focused approached, coupled with a thorough understanding of the needs of the legal community, can lead to wonderful things. When I heard of the possibility of an acquisition of LexGO, I have seized the opportunity without hesitation. The other team members and I remarkably complete each other and together we take on the challenge with gusto.”
