Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP has announced the opening of an office in Brussels, Belgium. This is the firm's 7th European office. The others are located in London, Mannheim, Moscow, Hamburg, Paris, and Munich.
The Brussels office will focus on EU and Member State competition litigation and investigations. Dr. Nadine Herrmann, head of Quinn Emanuel's European Competition Practice, will be Managing Partner of the Brussels office and will divide her time between the Hamburg and Brussels offices. She will be joined by Catherine Manley and Dr. Jan Jacob, both of whom specialize in competition law.
Managing Partner John B. Quinn said, "We represent many of the world's leading companies. In today's world, antitrust issues are global. Any major antitrust dispute or investigation includes an EU component. In fact, more and many originate in the EU. Brussels is the epicenter of EU competition matters. We believe we had to have an office in Brussels to effectively represent our clients in these global disputes. Nadine is a veteran of these disputes, particularly when there is also an IP component. We believe Nadine is ideally suited to lead our team in Brussels."
Nadine Herrmann added: "Brussels is the de facto capital of the European Union. We believe a Brussels office is essential to effectively represent clients before the European Commission and before the Union Courts. It will provide an excellent platform from which to expand our competition practice. Opening the office in Brussels demonstrates our commitment to our European Competition Practice."
