The Belgian Competition Council on 7 November 2008 granted second phase clearance of the acquisition by Belgacom NV/SA of Scarlet N.V.
The acquisition was hotly contested by almost all of Belgacom's competitors. Competition clearance eventually was obtained on the basis of detailed and innovative commitments offered by Belgacom and accepted by the Competition Council after a market test. Eubelius served as counsel to Belgacom.
