Award-winning lawyers at Stibbe

In December 2008, two of Stibbe's lawyers won prestigious awards. Benoît Kohl won the BVS Award, and Wim Panis was given the IFA Award.

Benoît Kohl, a lawyer in Stibbe's real estate and construction law department, was granted the BVS Award (Beroepsvereniging van de Vastgoedsector - professional association for the real estate sector) for his dissertation entitled "Conditions financières de l'acquisition d'habitations à construire en Europe (Vers une harmonisation de la protection du consommateur en droit de la promotion immobilière?)". This student award will be presented by the BVS' Board of Directors on 27 January 2009.

Wim Panis, a tax lawyer at Stibbe, received the IFA Award for his study on abuse of justice and VAT, a study that already won him the TFR Award (TFR is a Belgian Tax Law Magazine). The IFA Award was presented to him on 16 December 2008 by the Belgian branch of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), by far the biggest and most important association of international tax specialists in the world. Normally, this award is presented every other year, but in recent years it has not been awarded due to a lack of contributions of sufficiently high quality.
