Global law firm Dentons has strengthened its Corporate and M&A practice in Brussels with the recruitment of partner Erwin Simons. In this role, he will work closely with Laurens Engelen, who was promoted to partner in 2023, to support clients‘ transactions while further developing the Corporate and M&A team in Belgium.
Erwin Simons has more than 25 years’ experience advising domestic and foreign clients on their transactions in the Belgian market, including mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. . Prior to joining Dentons, he was a partner at DLA Piper in the Corporate and M&A team in Brussels. He is recognized as a leading M&A and private equity lawyer by IFLR1000 as well as Leaders League. In additon to M&A, he supports clients in general corporate law matters and (international) corporate restructurings.

The recruitment of Erwin Simons is Dentons fourth partner hire in Belgium in 2025, following the arrival of Jens Debièvre (Public Law and Regulator), Joris de Vos (Restructuring, Litigation and Dispute Resolution), and Tom Geudens (Banking and Finance) earlier this year.
