Nu Skin is a direct selling company that is internationally active in North America, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Pacific region. It’s a dynamic, international company with a rich diversity of cultures and nationalities represented in its staff. 

For their EMEA Headquarters in Brussels, Nu Skin is currently looking for a Legal Counsel.  

You will be reporting to the Regional Counsel EMEA and working in close collaboration with the local management team. You will serve as legal expert in Western and Central Europe, as well as Israel, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements for doing business in the markets of responsibility, with a particular focus on France, Germany and Spain (e.g., VAT-registration, social security obligations and other required registrations before doing sales activities)
  • Acting as the main person of contact on legal matters for the WEU and CEU management and business teams and providing legal guidance and advice to them on business initiatives and other local matters
  • Drafting, reviewing and supporting the negotiation of commercial agreements, with a focus on operations and supply chain
  • Assisting in legal issues related to distributor compliance (e.g., social media, e-commerce, advertisement, consumer protection, anti-trust regulations, privacy, …)
  • Handling complaints of distributors and consumers; managing litigation and coordinating outside legal counsels
  • Monitoring and staying abreast of legal developments in direct and distance selling in all markets of responsibility and actively participating in the local Direct Selling Associations’ meetings and conferences
  • A master’s degree in law
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience, preferably 3-5 years as an in-house legal counsel in an international company
  • Thorough understanding of EU Commercial Laws and Consumer Protection Regulations
  • Experience with e-commerce, digital content and consumer-facing technology issues, and/or with direct selling are a strong asset
  • Excellent English skills, both written and verbal, and knowledge of French and Dutch is plus
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Able to apply the law to novel situations and to demonstrate the ability to find pragmatic and creative solutions to business issues where appropriate
  • Communicate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment
  • Strong analytical skills and are able to capture and understand the essence, needs and challenges of the business
  • Open, unprejudiced and international mind; you are capable of building strong working relationships
  • Assertive, self-confident and a true team player, and at the same time you are able to work autonomously
  • Work well and effectively under pressure, are able to prioritize and are pro-active when appropriate
  • Have an interest in the e-commerce and digital world
  • Willing to travel if necessary (approximately 5-10 % of the time)
