They believe that in order to efficiently resolve disputes, more than only formal court proceedings may be required. A variety of strategies and out-of-court techniques are necessary, in order to provide solid results for their clients. 

Description of the vacancy

As litigation lawyer at Vanderstappen-Robert, you will notably be responsible for:

  • Drafting legal documents: draft legal opinions, brief of arguments, prepare pleadings and other legal documents necessary for litigation proceedings. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to court rules and procedures;
  • Case management: manage a diverse caseload of litigation matters. Monitor calendar key deadlines for submissions of brief of arguments and court pleadings. Regularly update clients on the progress of their cases, provide strategic advice, and address any questions or concerns they may have regarding the litigation process;
  • Legal research: conduct thorough legal research, analyze case law and regulations relevant to the ongoing litigation. Research legal articles and precedents to develop compelling arguments and trial strategies;
  • Client representation: represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings;
  • Negotiation: engage in settlement negotiations when appropriate, aiming to achieve favorable outcomes for clients while minimizing legal and financial risks;
  • Compliance: stay up-to-date of legal developments, legislative changes, and court decisions impacting our practice areas.


  • You have a master’s degree in law and can present a strong academic track record. An additional master’s degree or LLM is a plus;
  • You have a strong understanding of civil and commercial law, civil procedure, and relevant regulation;
  • You have 0 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field of litigation, preferably in a reputable law firm;
  • You are capable of making in-depth analyses, providing creative and pragmatic solutions and working autonomously;
  • You are inspired by working with others and have excellent communication skills;
  • You are ambitious and you want to grow in a professional environment;
  • You are fluent in French and English. Dutch is a plus.
