Dentons has strengthened its Brussels office with the recruitment of Jens Debièvre as partner and head of the Public Law and Regulatory practice and Joris De Vos as partner and head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution as well as Restructuring practices in Belgium.
Jens Debièvre will establish and lead the Public Law and Regulatory practice in Brussels. He has more than 20 years’ experience in government contracts, government investments and projects, public-private partnerships (PPP), as well as litigation before administrative and constitutional courts. His clients include governmental agencies, state-owned companies, and companies dealing with government. He has been ranked by Chambers Europe as a leading lawyer in Public Law in Belgium for the last 16 years. He joins from Lydian, where he led the Regulatory and Public Law practice.
Commenting on his move, Jens Debièvre said, “I look forward to further developing my practice at Dentons, offering local clients the benefits of the Firm’s significant global reach and insights but also providing foreign companies a solid go-to partner for any public law or regulatory issue they might face in Belgium. I am confident both Joris and I will be able to create added value to Dentons’ full-service Belgian law offering. In my opinion, our Belgian clients stand to benefit from a well-versed local practice that can rely on broader international expertise in relevant market trends such as ESG, AI, information management and security, etc., whose influence on how legal services are provided locally cannot be denied.”
Joris De Vos will establish and lead Dentons’ Restructuring as well as Litigation and Dispute Resolution practices. He has more than 20 years’ experience assisting companies in financial distress in restructuring, liquidation, and bankruptcy processes. He also advises on the acquisition of distressed companies and assists financial institutions and other creditors in relation to the recovery of loans or claims. In addition, he is an experienced litigator who represents companies, shareholders and managing directors in commercial, liability and corporate matters, including post-acquisition litigation, D&O liability cases and white-collar criminal procedures. He joins from DLA Piper.
Joris De Vos commented, “I am thrilled to join Dentons’ Brussels office as the head of the Restructuring and Litigation practices. Given the current economic uncertainty, there is a growing demand for restructuring services in the European market. I look forward to collaborating closely with my Dentonscolleagues to provide our clients with comprehensive Belgian law services and multi-jurisdictional solutions.”
Edward Borovikov, Belgium Managing Partner, commented, “The recruitment of Joris and Jens – two experienced and well-respected partners – is an important step forward in our strategy to broaden our Belgian law offering in response to the growing needs of our clients.”
With these recent additions, Dentons’ Brussels office now employs 22 lawyers including 12 partners.
