Promotions at Crowell & Moring

Crowell & Moring has promoted two lawyers. Evelien Jamaels, specialist in labour law, international employment and global mobility, has been promoted to partner. Delphine Keppens, who specialises in corporate and company law, is promoted to counsel. These promotions ensure the office continues to expand its expertise. “These internal promotions confirm Crowell’s bright future,” said Kristof Roox and Thomas De Meese, co-managing partners of Crowell’s Brussels office.

The Brussels branch of American law firm Crowell & Moring promoted two collaborators at the turn of the year. This shows how the firm plans to expand its client service. The office now has 13 partners, 9 (senior) counsels and 16 associates.

Evelien Jamaels (picture) (labour law, international employment and global mobility) was promoted to partner on 1 January 2023. She focuses is on individual and collective employment law, international employment and global mobility. Evelien assists Belgian and international companies during all phases of the employment process, from hiring to termination (whether at the individual or collective level). In addition, she assists companies with their global mobility projects in Europe. Evelien focuses on company restructuring, well-being at work, diversity and non-discrimination, and whistleblowing.

Evelien is also involved in the well-being and diversity initiatives taking place within the firm. For example, in 2019 she co-founded Crwell Café, a networking event for clients and contacts to exchange ideas and experiences about diversity and inclusion. Evelien also participates in the firm-wide well-being at work strategy via CroWellBeing.

Evelien completed a summer internship in 2012, and this was followed up with her official lawyer internship at the firm. She was promoted to counsel in 2020, and has continued an upward trajectory as partner. She has built her entire career at Crowell. Evelien was on Law.com’s 2022 Rising Star list, a prestigious list of the 25 best emerging female lawyers in Europe.

“The fact that I have been with Crowell for a decade, which means I am completely home-grown, demonstrates that this is a law firm that offers the necessary perspectives and support in the different phases of work and private life,” says Evelien Jamaels.

Delphine Keppens (picture) was promoted to counsel. She focuses on corporate law and company law. She has experience drafting (international) commercial contracts, conducting negotiations and litigation before the Belgian courts, UBO obligations, cross-border issues, and providing assistance for setting up, running and restructuring companies.

In addition, Delphine provides advice about European data protection and privacy legislation and supports the firm with individual and collective Belgian employment law issues, as well as anti-money laundering issues.

Delphine was already a member of the Brussels (Dutch-speaking) Bar Association before beginning her career at Crowell & Moring, and she also has in-house experience at a Belgian company working in the aviation sector.

“I am extremely happy with the confidence Crowell & Moring places in me with this promotion.” says Delphine Keppens. “Since I started working here it has been a good match on both a professional and personal level. The firm evolves with the times and focuses on breaking taboos in the legal profession to enable its collaborators to develop and grow. And this is essential for the further evolution of our profession.”

Kristof Roox and Thomas De Meese, co-managing partners of Crowell & Moring Brussels: “Evelien’s promotion to partner is well deserved and a testament to the many contributions she has made to the firm’s success and the unique Crowell culture. She has spent her entire career with us, starting as a summer intern many years ago, and she has proven to be a huge asset in both personal and professional terms. In addition to her contributions to the firm’s business, Evelien is one of the key drivers of the firm’s wellness and diversity initiatives. We look forward to continuing our journey with her. We would also like to congratulate Delphine on her promotion to counsel, which is a result of her hard work, positive attitude and can-do attitude. These internal promotions confirm Crowell’s future is bright. And it goes without saying that we will be seeking to continue strengthening the office with new lateral hires.”
