Eversheds Sutherland Belgium welcomes six new hires

Eversheds Sutherland Belgium has appointed six new (junior) associates. They joined the Brussels-based firm in the last months.

Koen Devos, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland Belgium and head of the corporate and commercial team in Brussels, said:

"The announcement of the six-strong team’s arrival is the latest in a number of appointments to Eversheds Sutherlands Belgium in the last year, and reflects its determination to meet increasing client demand for legal specialists able to provide high-quality advice."

Shavkat Egamberdiev is an associate in the real estate and regulatory practice. He focuses on real estate development, transactions, and litigation. Shavkat graduated in law from the Catholic University of Leuven in 2016 and completed an additional master’s degree in notarial law at the Free University of Brussels in 2017. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland in 2021, Shavkat has worked as a lawyer in the public law team of an international law firm. He is fluent in Dutch, English and French.

Mériem Bennari is an associate in the commercial litigation team. She gained experience as a lawyer at renowned law firms in Brussels and currently advises and represents clients on a wide range of legal matters, including commercial law, regulatory, data protection, contract law and litigation. Mériem holds a Master of Laws from the ULB  (2016) and a DPO Certificate from the University of Maastricht (2021). Her native tongue is French, and she is also fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Dutch.

Stefanie Dams is a junior associate in the corporate commercial team. She joined Eversheds Sutherland in October 2021 and focuses on various aspects of commercial law, including distribution contracts, market practices and data protection. She holds a Master degree in Law from the Catholic University of Leuven (2021); Stefanie spent a semester at the University of Adelaide Australia during her studies. Stefanie participated in various legal internships, including in the legal tech field. Her native tongue is Dutch, and she is also fluent in English and French. Stefanie is a member of the Brussels Bar since 2021.

Tijs Schuermans is a junior associate in the Brussels company commercial team. He joined Eversheds Sutherland in September 2021 and focuses on various aspects relating to corporate law and M&A. He holds a Master’s degree in Law from KU Leuven (2020) and is currently pursuing an Advanced Master’s programme in Corporate Law at KU Leuven. Tijs is a member of the Brussels Bar since 2020. His native tongue is Dutch and he is also fluent in English and French.

Niels Donaberger is a junior associate in the Brussels employment practice. He obtained his Master’s degree in Law at the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve. Niels spent a semester at the School of Law of Sheffield (UK) during his studies. He also participated in various legal internships in employment law. He also obtained a Master in Social Law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Niels Donaberger is a member of the Brussels Bar since 2021.

Julie Strauven is a junior associate in the Brussels employment practice. She focuses on various aspects of employment law. She obtained a Master’s degree in Law at Ghent University in 2016. She studied for a semester at the University of Florence, Italy. After graduating, she gained experience in multiple branches of law, with a strong focus on litigation, at law firms in Leuven and Antwerp. Julie is natively Dutch-speaking and is fluent in English and French.
