Jean-Pierre Blumberg has passed away

It is with immense sadness that the Linklaters partnership has to share the news that our much loved partner Jean-Pierre Blumberg has passed away. His leadership and courage impressed us over the last decades. His entrepreneurial mindset will always inspire us. He was always positive, strong and not giving up. This is how we will remember him. 

Jean-Pierre was global in his outlook and a true European who brought people together, within Linklaters, in the business community and beyond. Two decades ago he led the Belgian partnership into the merged global firm. He served as European managing partner. He mentored numerous lawyers and helped them developing and succeeding to carry the flame.

About Jean-Pierre Blumberg

Jean-Pierre Blumberg was born in 1957 in Merksem (Belgium). He studied law at the Catholic University of Leuven and in Cambridge (1980-1981). He started his career in 1982 at the then law firm De Bandt, Van Hecke, Lagae and Loesch. He became partner in 1990.

Since 2001, he had been National Managing Partner (2001-2008), Managing Partner Europe responsible for Western Europe (2008-2012) and Member of the Partnership Board representing the Benelux (2013-2016) at the international law firm Linklaters. Jean-Pierre Blumberg also taught at the law faculty of the University of Antwerp, and was a guest lecturer at the University of Leuven.
