AKD named ‘Law Firm of the Year: Benelux’ for third time

AKD has won the 'Law Firm of the Year: Benelux' award, conferred by leading UK publication The Lawyer.

AKD's managing partner Erwin Rademakers: “This award is a sign of recognition of our Benelux strategy. Whether it’s about companies in the Benelux doing business in the rest of the world, or companies from, for example, Asia or the US who are or want to be active in the Benelux, our firm is perfectly positioned to assist them. And with the expansion of our Brussels office by the team of US law firm McGuireWoods, we can now advise our clients under Dutch, Luxembourg and Belgian law on areas including corporate, M&A, real estate, IP, ICT, privacy and commercial litigation”.

AKD also received the award from The Lawyer in 2016 and 2018. Rademakers continues: “We’re putting our Benelux strategy into effect, and we’re noticing from clients’ responses and the cases they entrust us with that it’s resonating with them. Moreover, developments such as the establishment of the Netherlands Commercial Court in Amsterdam, Brexit, and the fact that more and more investment funds are opting for Luxembourg, show that it’s becoming more attractive for companies to establish themselves or settle their disputes in the Benelux. Our firm is fully equipped to anticipate such developments, and with our 450 lawyers, civil-law notaries, tax advisers and staff we will continue to develop further from that position”, says AKD’s managing partner.

M&A partner Carlos Pita Cao received the award on behalf of AKD during the ceremony at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in London on Tuesday 19 March.
