Hasselt University continues winning streak at the NautaDutilh Interuniversity Moot Court

Students from Hasselt University took 1st and 3rd prizes at finals of the NautaDutilh Interuniversity Moot Court Competition, which were held on Friday 21 April, 2017 at the Brussels Palace of Justice. Mrs. Tammy Philipsen, currently enrolled in the 2nd Master at Hasselt University, convinced the jury with very strong pleading perfomances throughout the day and was crowned the overall winner. She was awarded with a summer internship at the NautaDutilh Brussels office and an iPad Air, donated by LexGO. Runner-up was Maxime Caramin (University of Gent - Master 2) and the third step on the podium was for Jihane Farah (Hasselt University - 3rd Bachelor).

The Interuniversity Moot Court is a joint organisation from international law firm NautaDutilh, and the VRG and Elsa student associations of the Universities of Ghent, Leuven, Antwerp, Brussels and Hasselt. Through this competition, NautaDutilh introduces law students to some of the skills necessary for the practice of law (including legal analysis, pleading, and the ability to anticipate questions).

18 students were be selected to plead a case before a jury composed of law professors, judges and legal practitioners during a quite intensive finals round.
