New Partners join Elegis

Elegis is pleased to welcome back Jean Pierre Renard and to announce that he and his two partners, Thierry Ghilain and Marie-Charlotte Godefroid, are to join the firm together with their team as of 1 March this year in the new Brussels premises.

Their arrival will strengthen our practices and enhance our range of services in corporate, restructuring and insolvency, commercial contracts and business criminal law.

Jean Pierre Renard, admitted as attorney at both Brussels and Walloon Brabant’s Bars, serves as a deputy judge of the commercial court of Walloon Brabant and is regularly appointed as arbitrator. He has been advising clients in company law, restructuring law, contract law and business criminal law for more than 40 years. He is a highly-regarded speaker and is the author of a number of books and articles on these topics. He was one of the founding partners of Elegis, fifteen years ago.

Thierry Ghilain was admitted as attorney at the Brussels Bar in 2000.  Ever since, he has developed a thorough expertise in corporate and commercial law. For several years he has also been specializing in fraud and white-collar crime, advising, assisting and representing his clients in cases involving criminal offenses such as forgery and use of forgery, bribery, embezzlement, VAT carrousel fraud and money laundering. Thierry advises his clients in French, Dutch and English alike.

Marie-Charlotte Godefroid was admitted as attorney at the Brussels Bar in 2007.  She started her career in the Law Firm Linklater’s before joining the Team of Jean Pierre Renard. Ever since, she has gained substantial expertise in company law, contracts law, judicial law and more recently in mediation/amicable settlement.  She is also the author of books and articles on these topics.

Jean Pierre Renard, Thierry Ghilain and Marie-Charlotte Godefroid will join us with their associates, Sarah Taminiau and Laura Debuck, who will hence also be part of this new adventure.
