ALTIUS opens up to the African market with Yves Brosens as a new Partner

ALTIUS appoints Yves Brosens as a partner in its Banking & Finance department. Yves Brosens brings - in addition to his exceptional expertise in different types of financing- his knowledge of the African market.

Expertise in export finance

Yves Brosens has a strong background in acquisition, real estate and corporate finance and has advised on numerous joint ventures nationally and internationally. He brings his unique expertise in PPP projects and export financing – a plus in the growing market of export financing.

Being a facilitator between banks and corporations, Yves Brosens has had several successes in the export market. Companies taking the leap abroad and the banks supporting them, have a great need for seasoned legal guidance in this specialised field. Yves Brosens is ideally placed to guide all the aspects of an international project from start-to-finish together with a team of expert lawyers.

Mr. Africa

Yves Brosens' international focus is primarily on the African sub-Saharan countries – giving him the nickname Mr. Africa. Yves Brosens works closely with lawyers in the region on infrastructure and investment projects. He is often in this part of the continent, following developments and opportunities and assisting his clients on-site. “To truly assist your clients and to achieve outstanding results, you need to know the environment in which they operate. This is not from an office in Brussels”, he says.

New perspectives

Until recently, Yves Brosens was a partner in DLA Piper's Finance & Projects department, which he founded. At ALTIUS he will expand and develop his international experience: “I am really looking forward to joining the team of specialist lawyers at ALTIUS. Their internationally-oriented practice closely relates to my focus on complex financing transactions and structures and this also in the emerging market in Africa. ALTIUS gives me a platform to tailor my services better to the needs of the clients”, says Yves Brosens.

Yves Brosens’ appointment reflects ALTIUS' passion for innovation. In recent years, ALTIUS has invested heavily in the development of niche practices such as life sciences, plant variety, restructuring and sports law. Entering the African market, supported by Yves, shows the enthusiasm and dynamics with which the firm is facing the challenges of tomorrow. We welcome Yves warmly. His excellent reputation in the banking & finance sector and comprehensive legal knowledge of the African market, confirm our ambition to reinforce our position on the Belgian market and international markets”, says Sylvie Dubois, who recently was appointed as ALTIUS’ managing partner.
