POLITICO is growing and so is our Legal Team. POLITICO Europe is seeking a business-oriented, in-house Junior Legal Advisor (FR/ENG). The position is a full-time newly created role based in our HQ in Brussels at the heart of the European quarter.

Over the past seven years we have grown from our headquarters in Brussels to include offices in Paris, London and Berlin. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work for our different entities across Europe, in a very multicultural and dynamic environment in constant growth, with plenty of opportunities.

Reporting to and working closely with the Legal Manager, your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with the provision of legal support to the Group’s legal entities and internal stakeholders on a variety of legal topics (generally, business law, contract law, corporate law, compliance, Privacy, IP & ICT matters and Insurance) that relate to our business sector, our products and services in the relevant jurisdictions
   
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, amongst others: NDAs, contracts with clients (Event sponsorships, licensing agreement) with providers (IT, software agreements), and business partners (sales agency agreements, global partnership agreements) and variations
   
• Assisting with the improvement, development and roll-out of contract templates, internal corporate policies and guidelines
   
• Providing support on general corporate housekeeping and in different relevant M&A projects within the framework of the Group expansion plans
   
• Assisting the Legal Manager with the handling and follow-up of corporate compliance matters across various areas including data privacy (responding to data subjects requests, and generally advising on privacy compliance requirements), drafting of incident reports, etc.
   
• Contributing to process improvements and conducting legal trainings to internal stakeholders on commercial law, regulatory matters, data privacy, POLITICO standard contract templates and other relevant topics
   
• Coordinating and communicating with external third parties whenever required
   
• Staying up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect our business and specific industry and be able to apply them

Qualifications

• LLB or Master degree in Law (LLM or DJCE - Diplôme de Juriste Conseil d'Entreprise)
   
• 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience (in a general practice law firm and/or in a company preferably in TMT - Technology Media Telecommunications)
   
• Fluency in English & French is required; other European languages, especially German, are a plus
   
• Experience working on media, advertising, trademark, marketing issues (privacy, IP, defamation, harmful content, acceptable use, notice and take downs, email campaigns, etc.) including familiarity with Belgian and French applicable local laws is a real asset

Skills

• Sound understanding and knowledge of Commercial and Data Protection law, plus basic knowledge of Corporate and Labour Law
