As a Legal Counsel you will be responsible for reviewing, preparing, and managing contracts (from a legal perspective) during the various stages of a construction process. You will become part of the Legal Department of Denys NV in Ghent (Wondelgem) and will support our activities in Belgium but also throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East, currently expanding into the Americas. 

As Legal Counsel, you will have the following responsibilities:

• Review and suggest modifications to contracts and tender guidelines for bids;

• Evaluate (and attempt to mitigate) contractual risks;

• Draft contracts as well as other legal documents;

• Negotiate with clients, partners and sub-contractors;

• Follow-up of litigation, arbitration and/or ADR procedures in Belgium or abroad;

• Provide general legal advice to our teams; and

• Ensure the compliance of the company's practices with regulations.

The requested qualifications for this Legal Counsel positon include:

• You have a Belgian Master in Law degree.

• You are fluent in Dutch, English and French. If Dutch is not your mother tongue, you must be able to function in a Dutch-speaking environment.

• You have at least 3 years’ experiencein either: 

  • Belgian public procurement during the tender phase; or
  • Belgian public procurement during the execution phase (knowledge of the “algemene uitvoeringsregels van de overheidsopdrachten” / “règles générales d'exécution des marchés publics”); or
  • Belgian private construction law; or
  • international construction contracts (in particular FIDIC); or
  • PPS / PPP projects (in particular DBFM-contracts) or other integrated contracts such as D&B, EPC, DBM, O&M, BOOT etc.
    
    Evidently you are ahead of your competitors if you have experience in more than one of the above-mentioned areas of expertise.
