The COB is the managing organisation of the International Motor Insurance 'Green Card' system. Operating under the United Nations' aegis, the COB is closely involved with the EU institutions to improve the free movement of vehicles and the settlement of international motor accident claims in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. 

Members of the COB are national Motor Insurers’ Bureaux, Guarantee Funds, Compensation Bodies and Information Centres.


The function

COB is looking for a Legal Coordinator to work at its Secretariat on Avenue Louise, Brussels.

The Legal Coordinator will work full time as a member of the COB team composed of 13 members. Under the authority of the Managing Director, s/he will work closely together with the Legal Manager. 

S/he will provide general support to the work of various committees and working groups active within the COB system: preparation of agenda and supporting documents, attending meetings, drafting and circulating minutes, producing questionnaires, legal and technical analysis and information materials. S/he will liaise with the various Member Bureaux, Guarantee Funds, Compensation Bodies and Information Centres as well as with external partners such as the insurance sector and the European Institutions. 

In order to achieve his/her tasks, s/he will be required to travel mainly in Europe from time to time.

To start ideally January-February 2023 

The candidate

  • Degree in Law
  • Experience in the field of motor insurance, claims handling or insurance in general would definitely be an asset
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English
  • EU national or with valid work permit
  • Knowledge of any other EU languages would be an asset
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good social and interpersonal skills: ability to work as part of a small team but also independently
  • Good computer literacy
