Op 16 november 2017 trad de nieuwe “anti-kraakwet” in werking. Deze wet biedt de houder van een recht of titel op een onroerend goed ruimere mogelijkheden om snel en daadkrachtig op te treden tegen krakers. De nieuwe wet doelt niet enkel op woningen, maar ook bedrijfsgebouwen en –lokalen, woonboten en caravans.

Soon an English international business court in Brussels?

A few days ago, the Belgian media have revealed that Brussels should soon have an Anglophone court called “Brussels International Business Court” (hereafter: “BIBC”). The BIBC is the result of a joint initiative of the Belgian Prime Minister’s office (Charles Michel) and the Belgian Justice Minister’s office (Koen Geens), which have recently presented an inter office preliminary draft bill.

New Brussels International Business Court

According to a new draft law proposal, a new English-speaking commercial court could be created in Brussels.

The Brussels International Business Court (“BIBC”) would be the first court established in Belgium and continental Europe that would hear pleadings and render judgments in English. The judges would be selected from Brussels Court of Appeal judges and legal experts such as experienced lawyers or university professors.
