Op 17 juni 2021 heeft het parlement een wetsvoorstel aangenomen tot uitbreiding van het rouwverlof bij het overlijden van een partner of een kind en inzake het flexibeler opnemen van het rouwverlof. Het doel van deze wet is voldoende tijd uit te trekken, vanuit een medisch perspectief, om een natuurlijk en normaal rouwproces te bevorderen.
