CMB is now a privately owned company with offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Brentwood, Lowestoft, Ijmuiden and Hamburg. At present CMB is active in dry bulk shipping (Bocimar), container shipping (Delphis), chemical tankers (Bochem), innovation and development (CMB.TECH), Crew Transfer Vessels (Windcat Workboats) and Real Estate (Maritime Campus Antwerp).

CMB encourages innovation through its R&D department, CMB.TECH. CMB.TECH builds, owns, operates and designs large green marine and industrial applications that run on hydrogen and ammonia. CMB.TECH also offers hydrogen and ammonia fuel to its customers, either through own production or by sourcing it from third party producers.

CMB is currently seeking to reinforce the Group’s central legal department with a Senior Legal Counsel in support of the Group’s commercial interests and activities.

As Senior Legal Counsel and member of CMB’s legal team, you will act as a true business partner for the CMB.TECH division and will interact with colleagues at all levels of the Group.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts mainly in the area of cleantech and OEM’s (Original Equiment Manufacturers) automotive;
   
• Providing solution oriented legal advice on all matters in scope to enable proper monitoring, management and mitigation of the legal risks worldwide;
   
• Handling of disputes and follow up on complex litigation files in concert with CMB’s lawyers in Belgium and overseas;
   
• Advising on and managing general corporate matters of the CMB Group of companies;
   
• Providing relevant in-house legal and risk awareness training;
   
• Occasional travel is part of the job.

You will join a legal team of 10, based in Antwerp, and will report to the Legal Manager.

• You obtained a Master’s in Law;
   
• You have at least 5 years of experience as an in-house lawyer in an international environment;
   
• You are specialised in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts with OEM’s, additional experience in IP law and/or corporate law is considered a plus;
   
• You are able to think strategically;
   
• You are able to work autonomously as well as with your team and have strong communication skills;
   
• You are flexible and pragmatic and are keen to take on a varied workload;
   
• You have an excellent knowledge of Dutch and English.
