Legal Counsel - argenx

Argenx is a biopharmaceutical company that is creating and developing a pipeline of differentiated antibody therapeutics. Its unique antibody engineering technologies combined with the complementary expertise of its people enabled argenx to build a clinical-stage portfolio of novel product candidates – tailored from discovery through development to address patient needs.

For the expansion of its legal team and in preparation of its first commercial product launch, argenx is looking for a Legal Counsel who is able to support all legal dimensions of argenx’ s business.  Experience in advising on the legal aspects of clinical trials and pharmaceutical compliance is a big bonus.

The legal counsel is required to provide high quality legal advice and propose innovative approaches to business questions. As part of this, he/she will:

• be part of our global legal, compliance and IP team and be directly involved in various legal aspects of the company’s business and operations.
   
• closely collaborate with colleagues in the compliance functions, as well as in the business development, finance, tax, HR, research and development and regulatory functional areas of the company.
   
• Manage the legal aspects of clinical trials in cooperation with the business and the CRO’s through reviewing, drafting and negotiating clinical trial agreements, informed consent forms, letters of indemnification; strategic alliances; and others, as necessary.
   
• Give accurate and timely advice in a variety of legal topics to the operational and other departments and participate in the negotiation process with e.g. suppliers, contractors and collaborators and other counterparties; provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization.
   
• Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including license agreements research services agreements, consulting agreements, clinical trial agreements, sponsorship agreements, HCP agreements, manufacturing and supply agreements and others, as necessary.  
   
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, public authorities etc.) and supervise and coordinate relationships with outside suppliers of legal services, creating relations of trust. Negotiating rates, discounts and challenging invoices are part of that responsibility.
   
• Feels co-responsible with all members of the legal, compliance and IP team in providing leadership and direction to legal services within the company. 

• You have a Master in Law or higher degree from a tier 1 university. An additional degree in economics or management is a plus;
   
• You have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience working in an international environment gained in a reputable law firm working for biotech and pharma clients. Inhouse experience  within the biotech or pharma industry is a plus;
   
• Basic knowledge of the legal aspects related to clinical trials and pharmaceutical compliance is preferred;
   
• You are fluent in English. Fluency in Dutch is a big plus;
   
• You have a high degree of professional ethics, integrity and responsibility;
