Associate - Healthcare & Life Sciences - Dispute Resolution / Regulatory

In Brussels, our multi-disciplinary Dispute Resolution practice operates with a strong focus on Healthcare & Life Sciences and advises clients on the full life-cycle of their healthcare products (including medical devices, medicinal products, biopharmaceuticals, food supplements and cosmetics). Our team assists clients under Belgian laws, European Union (EU) laws and internationally. 

Our clients include major pharmaceutical groups, international medical devices manufacturers and industry associations active in the Healthcare & Life Sciences sector. 

We work with specialists in regulatory and compliance, commercial law, data protection, litigation, corporate and competition, offering our clients a totally integrated service and a unique industry expertise. We are closely connected to all Simmons & Simmons offices around the globe and work daily with our colleagues throughout the firm’s network.

You will join our highly acclaimed and collegiate Dispute Resolution group, working alongside several lawyers of different levels of seniority. You will have the opportunity to be involved with local, EU and cross-border projects as well as interesting and complex EU and local work on behalf of prestigious Healthcare & Life Sciences clients and industry associations. 

Within our Dispute Resolution group, our Regulatory team focuses on the following areas: research & development (R&D), studies, trials and investigations, qualification and classification of healthcare products, marketing authorisation and CE-marking requirements, manufacture, import/export and distribution, market access (including pricing and reimbursement), public procurement (tenders), advertising and marketing, compliance and product liability. 

You will be encouraged to develop expertise in all things pertaining to digital health and the interplay between the Healthcare & Life Sciences sector and the Technology, Media, Telecommunications sector. We work in close collaboration with Wavelength (www.wavelength.law), the world’s first regulated legal engineering firm.

• An intelligent lawyer with a strong academic record in Law with a Masters in Law or an LL.M from a Belgian university, along with excellent communication skills.

• A talented and ambitious lawyer with around five to eight years’ experience gained preferably in an international law firm.

• Dutch or French native speaker with a good command of English and French or Dutch.

• A pro-active and commercial approach along with a ‘one team’ mentality.

• Experience in Healthcare & Life Sciences and preferably in Regulatory aspects of healthcare products, or a strong interest in this space. This includes a track-record of advising clients on the areas presented above.

• A tech-savvy lawyer with outstanding IT skills (including PowerPoint and ability to use legal tech and other software).
