Our Competition and European Law team

Our Competition and EU Team, with Partners Stefaan Raes and Vincent Mussche, handles contentious and non-contentious competition and European law matters.

Our team provides deep expertise covering the full spectrum of competition law. We have been involved in complex merger control cases at Belgian and European level and a large number of major antitrust cases that have been handled by the Belgian Competition Authority, some of which having led to ground-breaking case law. For cross-border assignments, we work on a daily basis with top-tier foreign law firms.

We represent clients before the Belgian Competition Authority, European Commission and Belgian and EU Courts. We are also highly specialised in EU law, with a focus on regulatory issues.

Our team is currently looking for an associate with a strong background in EU and Competition Law, including State aid law.

What we expect

We are looking for an associate who has:

  • An interest to further develop themselves in all areas of competition and European law, State aid law included;
  • An excellent command of French, with a fluent knowledge of English and a good command of Dutch;
  • A Belgian law degree, additional education, especially at a university outside of Belgium or at the College of Europe is considered a plus;
  • Excellent academic results;
  • Experience (3 to 5 years) in EU and Competition Law in a leading Belgian firm or top tier international law firm;
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills;
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills;
  • A dynamic, positive, efficient and perseverant mind-set;
  • The ability to work independently, but is a real team player;
  • A client-oriented approach with a pragmatic and commercial mind-set.
