Legal Counsel in Commercial & IP/IT Law - Remote or Brussels

My client is an international Unicorn start-up providing Software as a Service (SaaS) for international clients (more than 10.000 international companies in diverse sectors) and in partnership with more than 1.000 leading (international) carriers.

The company was founded 10 years ago and already counts 500+ people all over the world (mainly in US, Canada, China, India and Belgium), whose goal is to go to IPO on the short/mid term.

The General Counsel is Belgian and is located in Brussels. 

He has assisted the company from the very beginning.

Because of its continuous growth, the company is looking for a second Legal Counsel to take care of the negotiation of international commercial & IT contracts with some of the biggest companies of the world.

• Commercial & IT Law with contract drafting & negotiation of key entreprise agreements, service agreements, general terms & conditions, API license agreements, and NDAs

• Privacy Law with drafting and review of Privacy Policy/Data Processing Agreements, Privacy Law regarding new products/processes, and management of external DPO & GDPR Representative

• IP Law with trademarks portfolio management, oppositions, availability search, TM watch review, and enforcement of IP rights (cease-and-desist letters, settlement/co-existence agreement negotiation & litigation management)

• Master in Law from a Belgian or Major European University. An additional degree in IP/IT Law is a plus

• 2 to 8 years of relevant professional experience as a Lawyer or a Legal Counsel in Commercial, IT, IP or Privacy Law and in (international) contract negotiation

• Excellent knowledge of English. French knowledge or additional European language is a plus

• Experience in start-up environment is a plus

• Very agile mindset, independent, proactive, business-minded & pragmatic

• Excellent communication skills

• Thorough, attentive to detail, able to summarise complex legal issues in plain language
