Function

The Legal Counsel will play a key part in ensuring that the company’s activities comply with all applicable legal frameworks and internal guidelines. They will provide expert legal advice to various operational departments and customers, ensuring that all business decisions align with legal and regulatory standards.

The Legal Counsel will also proactively identify opportunities to streamline work processes, contributing to problem-solving and decision-making across all areas of the business. Their expertise will be instrumental in supporting the BeNeLux market in achieving its strategic and corporate objectives.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Advise on legal requirements to be met by the company (excl. tax)
  • Participate in meetings by steering the strategy in a manner that optimises the commercial success and minimises risks
  • Drive all legal aspects regarding contracts, support the organisation (sales, Marketing, Trade Marketing procurement) during negotiations and after sales issues.
  • Support the Public Affairs department with the analysis of legal texts both local and EU directives.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on various legal matters & progress in litigation.
  • General administrative support to the department – Follow up of budget – creation of Purchase orders – filing of contracts – GDPR related administration.

Profile

  • Law degree with relevant knowledge of legal decision-making procedures within Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of general legislation, with strong analytical skills to quickly and thoroughly analyse laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex legislative and regulatory issues to management and specialists.
  • Proficiency in MS tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
  • Experience working in a commercial context or within multinational companies.
