Komatsu is currently looking for a young, charismatic lawyer to be their EU Export Control Manager, based at their EMEA headquarters in Vilvoorde. 

Would you like to be at the epicenter of operations of a global giant, advising the highest levels of management and international subsidiaries on complex, contentious issues and solving compliance and legislative problems? 

Komatsu’s business stretches globally, with a complex value chain of machinery, parts, IP and people. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will assist the Head of EU Export Control in developing EU Compliance Policies and Procedures, Trainings, Audits and End-User Checks. You will be the first point of contact for all business units and will support communication to EU Management and JPN Export Control Team.

Topics will include sanctioned countries and contentious jurisdictions, IP (technical drawings, advisory services etc) and controlled goods. You will interact with the EMEA leadership team, Export Control colleagues globally, EU governments and Komatsu’s commercial and operational entities around the region. Your work and counsel will have significant and increasing impact on all aspects of Komatsu’s business.

And the future? You will be trained to manage the department in the short to medium term. 


  • Masters in Law
  • 3-5 years’ experience in private practice or as in-house legal counsel
  • Fluent in Dutch and English. Knowledge of German is an asset
  • Strong communication skills – able to explain complex legal matters to non-specialists
  • Deep interest in international relations and politics, trade, export control law
  • Willingness to travel (within Europe)
